چکیده
A current trend in drug research is the desire to obtain novel antimicrobials with plant origins as an alternative therapy and a means curb antimicrobial resistance. This study evaluated phytochemistry antibacterial activity of ethyl acetate leaf extract Newbouldia laevis. The laevis was cold extracted Ethyl acetate. for it phytochemical constituents using standard methods effect against some clinical bacterial isolates well diffusion technique. revealed presence phytochemicals, alkaloids, saponins, flavonoids, phenol, anthraquinones steroids extract, which were believed be contributing factor observed effects. test isolates' susceptibility crude measured at 25 mg/mL 50 mg/mL, 75mg/mL 100mg/mL. growth inhibition Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Staphylococcus aureus Pseudomonas aeruginosa ranges from 9.66±1.54 13.00±0.00, 10.00±1.00 11.00±1.00, 9.33±0.57 14.00±0.00 17.33±1.52 10.66± 1.52 mm respectively. Minimum Inhibitory Concentration 25mg/mL, 12.5mg/mL, 25mg/mL,12.5mg/mL 25mg/mL respectively while Bactericidal Concentrations 50mg/mL, 50mg/mL effects due detected extract. results apparently justified traditional use this treating infections whose causative agents are organisms used study.

Phytochemical and in vitro antimicrobial assay of the leaf extract of Newbouldia laevis.
The methanolic leaf extract of Newbouldia laevis was subjected to preliminary phytochemical screening and in-vitro antimicrobial tests. The extract revealed the presence of flavonoids, tannins, terpenes, steroidal and cardiac glycosides. The antimicrobial activity of the plant extract was assayed by the agar plate disc diffusion and nutrient broth dilution techniques. Test microorganisms were P...

متن کاملIn vitro assessment of antioxidant activity of Newbouldia laevis
Poverty, drug resistance and other factors including increasing difficulty in the control of mosquitoes (the vector of the causative organism of malaria), have led to a growing interest in phytochemical research. The antioxidant activity of Newbouldia laevis stem bark was investigated. Air dried stem bark of N. laevis was powdered and extracted with 95 % v/v methanol by maceration, and the extr...
